“Learn to Read”
Dr. Best (Urmilā Devī-Dāsī):
We have digitized the ground-breaking interactive reading series by Dr. Best (Urmilā Devī-Dāsī): “Learn to Read”. Based on the UK system of phonics instruction, it also references the internationally recognized Fountas and Pinnell framework for the systematic teaching of reading, through stories related to Vedic culture and contemporary Bhakti themes. Recommended for children between the ages of 4-7 years.
SET A Books
This set introduces reading behaviours – bridging between whole language and phonics. It is the start of full phonics: short vowels, consonants, and consonant diagraphs and introduces vowel diagraphs and trigraphs, and r-controlled vowels.
SET B Books
This set continues with vowel diagraphs and trigraphs, r-controlled vowels – two and three consonant blends, more vowel phonemes, and long vowels.
SET C Books
This set covers alternate pronunciation for learned graphemes and alternate spelling for learned phonemes, silent letters, unusual sounds, and spellings.
